Welcome to the internet’s worst recipe blog! The name’s Henry and I am here to cook, drink, dance, and take the odd photo or two. I also write about modern culture, food, travel, music, and whatever else happens to come up. Life, love, health, who knows?
The phrase “food isn’t political” was something I heard plenty when I was younger; hell, I probably agreed before I knew anything about anything. But it’s an idea I’m hearing far too often nowadays from people in power as a means to dismiss the voices and needs of our communities. So I’m here to politely remind you this is utter b*&%sh#t. Everything we do is political, whether that’s eating and drinking, dancing, or which communities we choose to take part in. It’s a disservice to the people who fill our bellies or quench our thirst, play us the music to dance to, and provide everything else that brings joy to our lives to not think critically about these systems we’re all a part of. I made this site because I wanted to think more critically about how what I do everyday impacts the world I live in. My hope is that examining and interrogating my own life will help me better understand myself and the communities I’m a part of. And I hope reading any of this helps you do the same.
Welp, I guess I can hop off my digital soapbox now. Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to tip your bartender! Or if you enjoy the site enough you’re welcome to buy me a drink!
